I've heard a lot of complaints about the factory brake controller but if you haven't already, I do recommend testing the wiring on the vehicle side first to see where the malfunction is coming from. You'll want to use a circuit tester like the # PTW2992 on the vehicle side brake wire and depress manual override to see if you can re-create the issue. The 2013 Ram 1500 was the first year for the new Powernet system used by Ram trucks. This new electrical system requires the use of a special brake controller harness, # 3023-P. I don't believe this is going to be an issue with the # 3020-P adapter that you've got, but it appears that the brake light circuit is getting power when it should not be-at least on the left hand side. This leads me to believe there is an issue with the 7 way wiring on the truck. My contact at Tekonsha tells me that if the power to controller is interrupted and re-established in rapid succession, like when you are replacing your battery, the processor of the original Prodigy can be confused which would cause the display to behave erratically or to remain on instead of going into sleep mode and shutting down like normal.
